The Osmo Pocket 3 measures 139.7 x 42.2 x 33.5mm and weighs just 179 grams, so it slips into a jacket pocket or a small bag pouch. Controls are built for one hand: DJI's own instructions reference a joystick for panning and tilting the gimbal and a shutter/record button you press and hold to power on.
The standout design change over previous Pockets is the larger 2-inch touchscreen that physically rotates between landscape and portrait. Turning the screen wakes the camera and switches orientation automatically, which removes a whole menu step when you bounce between horizontal YouTube footage and vertical social clips.
The exposed gimbal looks delicate, and it is the part you protect most. DJI's own in-the-box list for the standard unit is: Osmo Pocket 3, a Type-C to Type-C PD cable, the Osmo Pocket 3 Protective Cover, a DJI Wrist Strap and the Osmo Pocket 3 Handle With 1/4" Thread. So a charging cable does ship - it is the 65W charger itself that does not.

A 1-inch sensor is larger than either. A bigger sensor gathers more light, so footage in dim restaurants, evening streets, and indoor rooms looks cleaner with less of the grainy noise small-sensor cameras produce.
In practice this means you can keep filming as the sun drops without your clips turning into a mess of digital noise. The dedicated low-light video mode pushes ISO up to 16000, letting the camera hold detail in shadows where action cameras give up.
3-Axis Mechanical Gimbal Stabilization#
A true motorized 3-axis gimbal physically counteracts your hand movement on pan, tilt, and roll, with rated angular vibration of just ±0.005°. 4K/60fps Video, and 4K/120fps in Slow Motion#
Normal video tops out at 4K/60fps, and DJI's dedicated Slow Motion mode is where 4K/120fps and 1080p/240fps live. DJI publishes a single "Max Video Bitrate" of 130 Mbps for the camera and no per-mode figures, so treat that as the device ceiling rather than as the rate every mode records at. Knowing which mode you are in matters: that 4K/120fps ceiling gives you detailed slow motion at full resolution - useful for highlighting a jump, a pour, or a passing scene with cinematic drama - but you select it, it is not the default.
Standard frame rates of 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60fps cover everything from film-look footage to smooth motion, and D-Log M with 10-bit colour is there if you grade. The camera focuses fast and reliably, so subjects stay sharp even when they move toward or away from the lens.
Rotatable Touchscreen and Smart Framing#
DJI specs the screen at 2 inches, 556x314, 700 nits, and its store page calls it an OLED panel. Rotating it toggles between horizontal and vertical capture - and per DJI's FAQ the same gesture powers the camera on and off. Tap-to-track, swipe menus, and quick mode switching all happen on screen, so you rarely dig through settings.

Built-In Audio and DJI Mic Pairing#
Three built-in microphones handle the on-board sound. DJI specs the audio output as "48 kHz 16-bit; AAC" and markets the capture as "Stereo Recording", which is genuinely usable for talking-head clips in quiet spaces. For windy or noisy environments, DJI's own listing copy names the mics that link straight to the camera: "Osmo Pocket 3 can connect directly to two DJI Mic 2/Mic Mini transmitters", with no extra receiver dongle. DJI has since extended that list - its DJI Mic 3 page states "The transmitter supports direct connection to Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4, or Osmo Pocket 3 without a receiver" - so the Mic 3 works too. DJI calls the whole thing the OsmoAudio ecosystem; that is the label to look for when you buy a mic.
One Thing to Know Before You Buy: There Is Now a Pocket 4#
Amazon's newer-model module on this listing points at the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P Standard Combo, which the module describes as a dual-lens 4K vlog camera with a 1-inch CMOS, 3x optical zoom, 4K/240fps, a 17-stop dynamic range and 103GB of built-in storage.
That is not the whole picture, and Amazon's module is the narrower half of it. DJI also runs a separate Osmo Pocket 4 product page, and DJI's own site-wide product boilerplate - printed on the Pocket 3 page itself - names its current handhelds as "Osmo Pocket 4, Osmo Action 6, Osmo Mobile 8, Osmo Nano, DJI Mic 3, Osmo 360". The Pocket 4 is in that list and the 4P is not, which makes the Pocket 4 the direct single-lens successor and the 4P the dual-lens variant alongside it. If you are cross-shopping, compare against both.
The Pocket 3 itself is still a current, on-sale DJI product with its own live product page. This is a successor arriving, not a discontinuation.
One row people misread, so we will pre-empt it: DJI's Pocket 3 spec sheet carries "Guaranteed software updates until 2026/12/31". DJI does not explain the row, but it is plainly not a Pocket-3 end-of-life announcement: the identical date appears on unrelated DJI products, including the Mini 4 Pro drone. Do not read it as an abandonment date.
